During your UK car driving test, you’ll be asked two vehicle safety questions, known as ‘Tell Me’ and ‘Show Me’ questions. These questions are designed to test your knowledge of vehicle safety and safe driving practices.
The ‘Tell Me’ question is asked at the start of your test, before you begin driving. You will need to explain how you would carry out a safety task.
The ‘Show Me’ question is asked while you’re driving. You’ll need to demonstrate how to perform a specific safety check or operate a vehicle control safely.
Getting a ‘Tell Me’ or ‘Show Me’ question wrong usually results in one minor driving fault, but you could fail your test if your driving becomes dangerous or potentially dangerous while performing the task.
Preparing and practising these vehicle safety questions is an essential step to ensure you pass your driving test confidently and safely.
